Water traffic update: Although the sun is out, boaters are still requested to avoid travel on the Stanislaus River near the McHenry Avenue Bridge due to the high water levels and high amounts of debris from the recent rainfall.
February 28 Concrete Pour
Last Thursday, February 28, crews completed a concrete pour on the new McHenry Avenue Bridge. Wondering what the concrete pour looks like behind the safety barriers on the road? Visit our Photo Gallery to view the concrete pour in action!
Valentine’s Day Edition
The Improve McHenry crew has been hard at work since the new year. Already, the crew has completed the first concrete pour of 2019 and has three more scheduled for the upcoming weeks.
The new McHenry Bridge’s concrete is being poured in frames, or “sections”. These frames range from 45 feet long to up to 343 feet long. Below is the anticipated concrete pour schedule for the next three pours:
• February 20, 2019
• March 5, 2019
Throughout the concrete pours, there will be minimal traffic impacts. In fact, the crew does not plan on closing any lanes during these pours, but please expect delays due to trucks entering and exiting the construction site.
After these three pours, the project will be 80% complete! There is still a lot of work to be done to complete the new bridge, including sidewalk work, electrical work, and railing work before the new bridge can be open to the public.
To stay up to date on the construction and traffic alerts, follow Improve McHenry on all of our social media platforms, or text MCHENRY to 41411 for real-time traffic alerts.
The project team thanks you for your patience during construction!
February 2019 has been off to a strong start!
The Improve McHenry crew is currently preparing the 289-foot western frame of the new McHenry Avenue Bridge above the Stanislaus River for a concrete pour in mid-February. Another concrete pour for the 343-foot frame of the new bridge, located just south of Stanislaus River, is scheduled for late March/early April of 2019. The new McHenry Avenue bridge consists of 5 frames on each side (east and west) and by the end of April 2019, four of the five sections are expected to be completed! Minor to moderate roadwork activities will continue through April 2019, so stay tuned for traffic alerts through our social media platforms, emails, and text alerts.
